Logan lets you build without lodging anything, provided kerb and channel run outside your property and the driveway passes six published checks.
If any one of them is a no, it becomes an application. The figures below come from Logan City Council's driveway fact sheet, checked 15 August 2026.
Clear these six and you never lodge a thing
All six have to be yes.
- 600 mm clear of the nearest stormwater pit
- 800 mm clear of any power or light pole
- Not within 10 m of the approach side of a bus stop
- Levels match existing concrete footpaths, where present
- Clear of water meters, hydrants, valves, sewer and stormwater manholes, and not over the water supply pipe between main and meter
- Not built over a council easement, and clear of road signs, trees, traffic islands, parking bays and double unbroken centre lines
With no kerb and channel, you apply either way.

Driveways on state-controlled roads are approved by the Department of Transport and Main Roads, not Council, through a Road Corridor Permit.
Five metres wide, twelve from the intersection
- Residential: maximum width 5 metres, narrower preferred on tight roads.
- Minimum 12 metres from intersections, measured from the cadastral boundary, unless otherwise approved.
- At least 6 metres from the tangent point of an intersection (see RS-049).
- A second driveway requires more than 30 metres of frontage.
- Constructed at a right angle to the road.
