About DrivewayIQ
Built by someone who had to draw them
DrivewayIQ is Australian software for the one drawing every sloping block needs and nobody enjoys producing: the driveway long section. It works the profile out, draws it to scale, drives a real vehicle over it, and checks the result against the rule pack you select.
It is not a general CAD tool with a driveway module bolted on. It does one job, for one market, and that is deliberate.
Who builds it
Ryan Anderson
I have spent over fifteen years in residential design and construction in South East Queensland, and I hold a Bachelor of Architectural Design.
In that time I have designed hundreds of residential driveways — every shape and slope, on blocks that made none of it easy — and taken them through engineers, town planners and certifiers. I have also worked in a management position leading and defining drafting workflow systems: what gets drawn, in what order, to whose standard, and how that holds together when several people are working across the same set.
That is where the concern with accuracy and efficiency comes from. In a drafting office an inefficiency repeated on every job is not a small thing, and a number retyped by hand is a number that can be retyped wrong.
How it started
From a spreadsheet to this
Every sloping block needed the same work. Levels off the survey, gradients on a calculator, the long section set out and dimensioned in CAD, then checked against the standard. Careful work that had to be right, that earned nothing on its own, and that started again the moment a level moved.
I built a spreadsheet to stop doing the arithmetic twice. The spreadsheet grew until it was solving whole profiles, then it needed to draw them, then it needed to know whether a real vehicle would clear the result. At that point it was no longer a spreadsheet.
DrivewayIQ is what that became. It is the tool I wanted for those hundreds of driveways, built with a fairly clear idea of where the hours actually go.

I will not sell a feature that does not exist
Where something is planned rather than built, this site says planned. If a capability is listed, it is in the software and you can use it today.
Measured and estimated figures are labelled differently
Vehicle dimensions and angles are manufacturer published figures. Underbody clearance heights are engineering estimates, because no manufacturer publishes them — and the app says so rather than letting the two look alike.
Every check names what it checked against
Rule packs are versioned and carry their source, so a result records which interpretation produced it. DrivewayIQ supports design checking; it does not certify a design, and the approving authority remains the authority.
Australian residential, first and properly
The vehicle set is what is sold here. The terminology is what is on your drawings. The rule packs include the Queensland Development Code and council standards, not just the national one.
