In short
The government and council documents behind our rule packs are published under Creative Commons Attribution licences. This page carries the attribution those licences require.
Australian Standards are not reproduced anywhere in our software or on this site. They are copyright, they are not free, and you need your own copy.
This summary is provided for convenience and is not part of the agreement. Where it differs from the full text below, the full text applies.
DrivewayIQ draws on published documents from standards bodies, governments and councils, and on manufacturer-published vehicle specifications. This page records what we use, under what licence, and what we deliberately do not reproduce.
1. Australian Standards — not reproduced
No part of AS/NZS 2890.1 or any other Australian Standard is reproduced in the DrivewayIQ software, in our exported drawings, or on this website. Australian Standards are copyright to Standards Australia (and, for joint publications, Standards New Zealand). They are not free public documents, they are not open licensed, and they must be obtained from their publishers.
Where a rule pack is described as being based on AS/NZS 2890.1, the numeric limits it applies are our own interpretation, recorded as such in the pack, and not clauses quoted from the standard. Where our blog discusses a standard, it describes what the document covers and when it applies — it does not publish its figures, tables or clause text, and it says so on the page.
If your approval cites a standard, work from a current copy obtained from Standards Australia or Standards New Zealand, or ask your certifier to state the clause and edition in writing.
Standards designations such as “AS 2890.1” and “SAE J689” are used descriptively, to identify the document a design was assessed against or the measurement method applied. That use does not imply any sponsorship, affiliation, endorsement, review or approval by Standards Australia, Standards New Zealand, SAE International or any other body. No standards body has reviewed, endorsed or approved this software.
2. Government and council sources
Our rule packs are built from publicly available government and council documents. Each is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution licence, which permits us to quote and summarise it provided we attribute it as set out below. Rule packs are our interpretation of these documents; none of the publishers has reviewed or endorsed our software, our packs, or any design produced with them.
| Source | Rights holder | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| Queensland Development Code, Non-Mandatory Part 1.1 — Driveways (1 January 2008) | © State of Queensland | CC BY 4.0 |
| Brisbane City Council — technical driveway standards | © Brisbane City Council | CC BY 4.0 |
| ACT Municipal Infrastructure Standard MIS 07 — Driveways, and standard drawing ACTSD-0703 | © Australian Capital Territory | CC BY 4.0 |
| South Australia — Planning and Design Code | © Government of South Australia | CC BY 3.0 AU |
Government and council logos, crests, insignia and trade marks are excluded from these licences, and we do not use any of them. We cite documents instead — issuing body, title, edition and date — which is what a certifier can actually check.
The same applies to material we summarise on our blog, including pages published by Brisbane City Council, Ipswich City Council, Logan City Council, Redland City Council and Toowoomba Regional Council. Each article names the specific page it drew on and the date it was checked, and summarises rather than reproduces it.
3. Vehicle data and manufacturer names
Vehicle dimensions are compiled from manufacturer-published specifications. Vehicle makes, models and generation names are trade marks of their respective owners, used descriptively to identify the vehicle being modelled. No manufacturer has supplied, reviewed, endorsed or approved this software, its dataset or its results, and we use no manufacturer logos or badging.
Underbody clearance figures are our own engineering estimates and are not manufacturer data — see our Disclaimer.
4. Software and typefaces
DrivewayIQ is built on open source software, used under the licences its authors granted. Those licences and their notices travel with the packages themselves; we can supply the current list on request. Typefaces used on this site and in exported drawings are used under their respective licences.
5. If you think we have got this wrong
If you are a rights holder and believe material of yours has been used here beyond what your licence permits, or attributed incorrectly, tell us at Contact@drivewayiq.com.au. Tell us what the material is and where it appears, and we will correct or remove it promptly. We would rather fix it than argue about it.
